FATEH JANG: The masses fully know that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has always worked for their well-being whenever it came to power, PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Saturday.
He was addressing a public gathering in Fateh Jang, Attock.
“PPP is famous for opening the doors of employment to the people. Once in power, I will also repeat this crime of providing more jobs to the people because it is their basic right,” Bilawal said.
He said that after Chiniot, this was his second rally in Punjab. “I even went to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, met people in Mansehra, Chitral and Kaghan,” he said.
“In Peshawar, people are dying of dengue, but Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairperson Imran Khan is busy addressing gatherings in Sukkur. Apart from terrorists, Imran Khan, are you also scared of mosquitoes now?” the PPP chairperson asked.
Bilawal also criticised the policies of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), saying the party had not appointed any foreign minister during Nawaz Sharif’s tenure.
“But now that they have appointed a foreign minister, he is not performing his duties. Instead, he has taken to the GT Road and is asking people why his leader [Nawaz Sharif] has been disqualified,” Bilawal said. Central leaders of the PPP were also present at the rally.
Addressing the crowd, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah said that the rally was a proof that the PPP was still strong in the Punjab. “It is said there is a virus of corruption in politics these days. There is no doubt about it,” he said.
He said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif kept asking people about the reason behind his disqualification. “Nawaz Sharif should ask himself about his wrongdoings,” he said. Also present on the occasion, PPP leader Manzoor Wattoo said no one could compete with the PPP leadership.
“Our leadership has made sacrifices for the sake of democracy. We will make all efforts to contest elections in the Punjab under the leadership of Bilawal Bhutto,” he said. PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira said that those spreading propaganda against the PPP leadership had now gone into hiding. “Once again PPP has succeeded. Those hurling allegations against Zardari have been defeated,” he said.
