Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai on Monday attended her first lecture as a student at the Oxford University.
Malala took to Twitter to express her feelings. “5 years ago, I was shot in an attempt to stop me from speaking out for girls’ education. Today, I attend my first lectures at Oxford,” she tweeted.
The 20-year-old Nobel Peace Prize winner accepted a university place in August at Lady Margaret Hall college to study philosophy, politics, and economics.
“Congratulations! Your place at Oxford University 033 for Philosophy, Politics and Economics L0V0 has been confirmed,” the varsity stated, confirming her admission status.
Malala was interviewed for admission earlier in the year. Malala had told media that her interview was not easy and like any other student she is anxiously waiting for the result.
An education activist, Malala rose to international fame after she survived a near-fatal attack by the Taliban in October 2012.
