LAHORE: National Assembly (NA) Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Sunday advised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to focus on doing ‘long work’ instead of ‘long march’ as the latter had impacted the country’s development process adversely.
He said that the PTI, which is in power in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), must pay attention towards the development of the province and well being of its people as being done in other provinces by their respective governments. According to media reports, patients are facing hardships in the absence of proper facilities in the KP hospitals, he added.
After inaugurating the sewerage scheme in Samanabad area, the NA speaker said that the long marches had always failed and would not yield any positive results in future.
He said that such activities are not good for democracy rather they would affect the process of economic revival and investment in the country, besides the projects being undertaken under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Regarding the PTI’s initiative of metro bus service in the KP, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said the nation is well aware of the U-turns taken by Imran Khan on various issues.
He said that Imran Khan is in the habit of first criticising the public welfare projects initiated by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in the province of Punjab and later Imran Khan launched the same projects in the KP. The Green Line Metro Bus project inaugurated by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Sindh chief minister would prove to be a milestone in the development of Pakistan, he added.
The NA speaker said that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) should work within its ambit. The accountability process must be transparent and above board, he added.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said Rs 174.383 million sewerage scheme would resolve the long-standing problem of inundation of the area due to heavy rains adding that the scheme would benefit six union councils of Samanabad and efforts are being made to complete it before June 2016. Under the scheme, the sewerage system would be improved in Pounchh Road, Ghazali Road, Mahmood Road, Afghani Road and adjoining areas in Samanabad, he added.
