KHYBER AGENCY: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) on Sunday criticised officials for banning 3-G internet service in tribal regions, saying that closing the fastest service in Khyber Agency and other tribal areas was a clear violation of the constitutional rights.
JUI-F General Secretary Mufti Muhammad Ijaz Shinwari told journalists that the ban on the 3-G service was violation as law and order situation in Khyber Agency was much better than in Karachi and in Balochistan. He said that people including businessmen, students and scholars were deprived of access to information and sharing views and news about current issues being faced by the locals.
He said that it was the right of every individual to share his views through the social media and the internet. He accused that it was a drama with the tribal people as their connection with their families and relatives living abroad was interrupted. He also condemned the ban on 3-G service and said that it was the lone source of raising voice of the people who had been deprived of their social, moral and constitutional rights.
Mufti Shinwari along with other JUI-F leaders including Qari Jehad Shah Afridi and Qari Mujahid threatened that they would soon launch protest demonstrations if the 3-G internet service was not restored in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), a semi-autonomous tribal region.
