ISLAMABAD: The police have demanded additional 25,000 personnel on Wednesday – and their accommodation – in view of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) sit-in expected early in November, a local TV channel reported.
In a letter written by district magistrate, accommodation for the police personnel has been demanded. The letter demanded accommodation for the police in Aabpara, G-6 community centres and sports complex. Some space has also been demanded at Hajj Complex and AIOUK Meera Bagwal.
On the other hand, the Federal police also demanded 25,000 personnel from Punjab, Sindh and Azad Kashmir governments and Frontier Corps (FC). However, the government has approved 14,000 extra officials for Islamabad police’s assistance. 7000 officials of FC, 5000 officials of Punjab and 2000 officials of Kashmir police will be positioned in Islamabad during the sit-in.
