ISLAMABAD: The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) said that River Indus at Kalabagh, Chashma and Taunsa Barrage and River Kabul at Warsak are flowing in low flood.
According to daily FFC report, other main rivers including Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normal. The river flows and reservoir elevations indicates that Tarbela and Mangla reservoirs are at elevations of 1533.15 feet and 1240.30 feet respectively, which are 16.85 feet and 1.70
feet below their maximum conservation levels of 1550.00 feet and 1242.00 feet. The combined live storage capacity of Tarbela, Chashma and Mangla reservoirs is 12.855 MAF as compared to last year’s 13.637 MAF. The dam management authorities are advised to take utmost care and vigilance in operation and strictly follow SOPs and safety guidelines.
According to Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, yesterday’s depression over Western Bengal has moved westwards and today lied over Jharkand in India. Yesterday’s trough of westerly wave continues to prevail over Kashmir and adjoining areas whereas seasonal low still persists over Northern Balochistan, it said.
Weak moist current is penetrating into upper parts of the country upto 2000 feet. As predicted by the Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, isolated thunderstorm and rain is expected over the upper catchments of all major rivers including Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore and Bahawalpur divisions, besides, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Peshawar, Kohat and D.I Khan Divisions and Northeastern Balochistan during the next 24 hours.
