KARACHI: On the directives of Senator Saeed Ghani, the Social Security Kidney Centre Landhi has been made functional after nine long years where doctors performed two successful surgeries on Monday morning.
Ghani – also Sindh chief minister’s Advisor on Labour – felicitated doctors and paramedical staff for not only carrying out successful surgeries but also getting the centre functional within shortest time. He said that immense efforts were being made to bring the reforms with special focus to improve the performance of the medical and education facilities for the workers and their families.
“A visible change in the institution’s performance has been seen, which is running under the Labour Department, within one month,” he said.
He stated that commitment to provide maximum educational and medical facilities to working class would be fulfilled on all costs and workers to be given relief, while all the schools, hospitals, dispensaries were being equipped with required facilities to upgrade them on modern lines.
“Each and every measure, including the transfer and posting, are also being made on pure merit basis,” he added.
Landhi Kidney Centre Medical Superintendent Shah Muhammad Noonari while expressing his pleasure over the success of surgeries said that due to the government’s keen interest and support the centre had been revived – where two to three operations will be performed on daily basis with over twenty patients provided with dialysis facilities.
Noonari said that the kidney centre would be functioning round the clock where number of dialysis machines will be increased from 10 to 20. He said that the Urology Department was being upgraded with latest machines, trained technicians, paramedical staff and other required facilities.
